Trackside 3D is developing a range of accurate point machines based on actual technical drawings and design diagrams. The point machines are designed for use with points currently available on the market from manufacturers such as Peco and Hornby. Trackside 3D provides point machines that are pre-mounted on sleepers, pre-mounted on sleepers in a reverse direction and unmounted. The pre-mounted point machines are designed to fit Peco and Hornby points, they line up with the sleepers on those points. These point machines are dummy machines, designed to provide an accurate look and feel to a model railway layout. They are designed to work alongside existing point motor products.
Due to the small size of the details on the point machines, Trackside 3D has made the following design decisions to enable successful prints on a wider range of 3D printers, where possible, an extra-detail version of the point machines is available as a separate product for individuals with higher resolution 3D printers.
- Reduced the number of mounting bolt holes / bolts by 1 on each mount plate (63/63A)
- Removed the padlock bracket from the side of the point machine (63/63A)
- Simplified the latch design on the lid (63/63A)
Trackside 3D currently offers Style 63 (WBS) and the modern Style 63A (Siemens) point machines. Style 63 point machines were in widespread use by British Rail and continued through to present day. Siemens offer a newer style 63A point machine based off the same design.
Trackside 3D currently offers an accurate Style 63/63A point machine, other point machine designs are currently in development.
